Q. How can I boot my RedHat/Fedora/CentOS system into text mode from a CD-ROM?

A. Press <tab> to modify the boot options.

Add a 3 and the end of the boot command.
This requests run-level 3.
So if the command line is:

vmlinuz0 <stuff>
Change it to:
vmlinuz0 <stuff> 3
Press <enter> to boot. You might also want to remove "rhgb" and "quiet" for more verbose messages.
