Q.  Where is the ssh (secure shell) client in the Gnome desktop?

A.  Its part of the Remote Desktop Viewer.

Launch it

Click on Connect

Select "SSH" for Protocol

Enter the host name in "Host:".
If your server uses a nonstandard port you can add the port after a colon:

example.com:8000
Press [Connect] ---- If you want to forward Xwindows don't use this application. Start a terminal and use ssh -Y on the command linea instead.
