Computer Tips - Can I use Google (or any search engine) as a spellchecker?

Date: 2007nov21 Update: 2010jan21 Q. Can I use Google (or any search engine) as a spellchecker? (OK, nobody has really asked this) A. When you don't know how to spell a word you can look it up in an (online) dictionary or you can look up the possible spellings in a search engine. For example: "websight" http://www.google.com/search?q=websight Gets 514 thousand hits vs. "website" http://www.google.com/search?q=website Gets 831 million hits Looks like the winner. Of course, this assumes that most people spell things correctly. The site http://www.googlefight.com automates this. (Arg, I have to say that googlefight is yet another site I thought of but then figured: nobody would want that.) Or, here's a good real dictionary: http://dictionary.reference.com/
