Computer Tips - How can I remove a GMail contact from my Android phone contacts?
Date: 2012aug11
Q. How can I remove a GMail contact from my Android phone contacts?
(I still want the contact in GMail but I don't want it on my phone.)
A.
On a desktop/laptop computer...
To go the GMail Contacts and edit the contact so its
no longer in the "My Contacts" group. I don't want to say exactly
how you make this edit since they UI is always changing -- currently you click
on the button that has a group of people icon.
On your Android phone...
I don't know how do to this using the phone. If you delete the
contact using the contact app it is removed from both the phone and your GMail
contacts! The GMail app doesn't seem to have a way to edit contacts
and when you access the GMail website with the browser the simplified
website doesn't seem to offer a way to edit contacts.
So you I guess you have to wait until you get to a desktop/laptop computer.
You could rename the contact to "HIDEME John Smith".
