I prefer following Twitter users via RSS since it show up in my regular mail program. It used to have the RSS easily accessible but now you just have to know. And this use seems unsupported. But here is:

http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline.rss?screen_name=USERNAME

I suggest pasting that URL into your browser to make sure it works then you can add it to your fav RSS reader. Who knows how long this will work.
