Q. How do I stop GNOME for opening a new window every time I go
to a new folder?
A. This started in GNOME 2.6 [2004] and ended in GNOME 2.3 [2010 *]. The file browser in GNOME is called Nautilus
and this mode is called "spatial". To disable it do this:
- Launch The Configuration Editor
- Go to apps > nautilus > preferences
- Check "always use browser"
